Kids are doing great! Weather was awesome yesterday for their parade and standstill performance. It was exciting to see them in their new uniforms and had a terrific crowd response. They enjoyed pizza for dinner last night to celebrate their first public performance and then hit the field for rehearsal.

An early special thanks to Jake T. and the group from McGraw Hill who are coming in tomorrow to help for the day.

The corps has had an amazing day of rehearsal!!! The sewing crew has been at work making the new uniforms fabulous and all of the volunteers are hard at work getting the food truck ready to roll for cornfield. And of course the kitchen staff this weekend is cooking up a storm. THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU!

Word from the members is it has been an awesome day and they are getting things done.

Lunch today was meatball sandwiches, scalloped potatoes and corn. Dinner was egg rolls, rice and chicken with sweet and sour sauce. Snack tonight is must goes....

Here we go . . .

I'm off to camp and then being on tour next week.

When my wonderful technical helper (Rod) gets the blog system to cooperate with him, he will be posting an updated cooks calendar (dated 5/26). Thanks for helping, Rod.

Next week when I'm on tour, Crys will be helping with the daily posts. If you are interested in assisting, contact me at colts.cooks@comcast.net and we'll discuss the tasks and procedures.

Corps was on rain plan today and headed to Five Flags for visual with the guard and brass. The low brass went to the corps hall. Percussion at the armory. They worked drill last night at the fairground parking lot.

Brats and dogs for lunch.

The corps was singing theme songs from action movies while doing cals today. Never dull moment!

The corps had a successful first day of sectionals. Drill was taught in the late afternoon.

They are also gearing up for their Memorial Day parade and performance!

What a response

Thanks to the newest Head Cook and cook volunteers. We still need cooktruck volunteers for the weeks of June 5, 12 and 19; and a Head Cook for July 2 - 9.

The preseason camp is this week, followed by Memorial Day camp. That can only mean thing - tour officially starts a week from Monday at Loras College in Dubuque. Let the good times roll!

Updated calendar & Cadets on DC-eye

Thanks to all that have volunteered to tour this summer with us. The updated calendar on the right reflects this great support.

Yes, we have some challenges where we are short of help. The weeks of May 31 (short a Head Cook); June 5 (HELP!); June 12 (cooks); and June 19 (cooks). The week of July 3 we need a Head Cook and a cook or two.

Take a look at the DC-eye (http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=adcc9d70-f578-40c2-b203-0006481964fd) for a pic of the Cadets from last summer.

Updated calendar & show title

An updated calendar is now available by selecting 2011 Cook Calendar under Important Links on the right. It doesn't look like the "normal" link, but we should be back in business shortly with Rod's help.

Check out the 2011 show announcement on the Colts home page - and I'm not just being deceptive. Check out the show poster - it's awesome. Great job, Jeff!
