It's Time to Step Up

Exactly 2 months from today, the Colts will be on the first day of their summer tour. The feeding of your sons and daughters will then be in the hands of cooks that donate their time and energy. These cooks will prepare and serve 160 meals - four times a day. They also must wash the dishes, take care of the garbage, go grocery shopping, restock the shelves, and be a nurse.

The cooks do all of this for the kids - your kids. To properly feed and care for them, it takes a Head Cook and at least 4 additional cooks. David posted the updated cooks calendar earlier this week. Take some time to review the calendar and see when we do not have the necessary number of cooks. Then match the dates when we have our cook shortages to the times you can go on tour and care for the kids. Our schedule takes us out east twice; down south twice; and throughout the midwest. In other words, we'll be in your neighborhood.

If you are reading this post, I know you support (and care deeply) about the kids. Not sure if you can handle the cooking? Then we can use you to drive the vans that the cooks sleep in. Either way you win! You get to spend time with the best kids in Drum Corps. Please "STEP UP" and put your support into action by volunteering to be a cook or a driver. Contact me at colts.cooks@comcast.net and let's provide the support the kids deserve.

Still here

The Virtual Cooktruck crew is still on the job. Only there's not much to say with camp being cancelled and me being in Philadelphia for a week. And there's other stuff. Pilates is in Ireland at the moment. Then there's family stuff, dogs, and oh, the job. Gotta go do that job thing.

I got an email about drill camp this morning. That helped. If you didn't get it, then you're not on the mailing list and better contact colts@colts.org and get that seen about.

Hurry up and be camp time again, please.

Virtual camp

Well, since real camp has been cancelled this weekend, why don't we have Virtual Camp?

Whenever you're bored from being snowed in and decide to visit the Virtual Cooktruck, why not leave a comment saying what you WOULD BE doing if you were at camp.

Cooks can say what they would be cooking. Drummers could say what they would be doing. The guard could say they'd be at Fulton freezing. Brass would be in horn arc. And everyone would be doing something incredible in vis block.

The snowed-in cooktruck staff

(I'm not really snowed in. I'm in Philadelphia, where it was in the 50s today and sunny. Don't hate me. And I didn't wish for snow so everybody else would have to miss camp since I was missing camp. I promise. -- David)

Go look at colts.org RIGHT NOW

There's IMPORTANT camp information there. Like there's NO CAMP THIS WEEKEND.

Check colts.org for details.

This is why it is SO IMPORTANT that you check colts.org (not here) for the latest camp info.

(As Greg says, it's the first inconvenience of 2007. Go Colts!)
