New stuff

New stuff added tonight.

There's a new version of the summer cook calendar posted. (Still plenty of room for you to sign up. Download it, print it out, and bring it to camp with you so Bill can sign you up for the correct week. Do it now so you don't forget!)

And there's a new gallery of February camp pictures taken by Rod R. Thanks Rod! (Rod will be the chief photographer during March camp in Dubuque. Here's to good shooting!)

Thanks,
david

Revised cook calendar

Bill sent me a revised cook calendar today, so the new one can be downloaded by clicking on the link in the right sidebar.

The calendar is coming along but there are still major holes to be filled before tour. (And did you realize that there's just three more camps before Memorial Day weekend and the actual start of tour?)

Please look at the calendar and start making your plans to join us on tour. Don't miss any of the fun!

The menu, the schedule, and pictures will be posted this week, but first things first.

Thanks to everyone who helped out at February camp this weekend. Especially Jody G. and Lori and Barry in the kitchen and their great crew who kept everyone fed. (ummmmm, butt chops at last.)

Dave and Tom and Jim and everyone else who helped out with the projects at the center. Lauren and Sue P. on uniforms. Luba and the rest of the volunteers for check-in. Penny and Polly and Pat and everyone with souvie flags. And all the people I'm leaving out who did the thousands of little things that have to get done every camp and seldom get acknowledged. Like the Peter and everyone else who drove the guard. Like all the board members who met Saturday. Everyone who makes sure the syrup bottles stay full at breakfast. And especially the guys who carry out trash and wipe tables and clean up spills without ever having to be asked.

We couldn't do this for the kids without each one of you. So, thanks to EVERYONE.

Volunteer projects for February

There was a comment the other day wondering what the volunteer projects for February camp might be (thanks Penny).

Here they are:
Prepare, cook, serve and clean up food for the members;
Uniform fitting;
Sewing flags;
Complete the painting at Colts Center (unisex bathroom, entry way-if warm enough, back hallway, ceiling in selling area);
Finishing touches at Colts Center (trim in Jeff's office, threshhold to main office, etc.);
Build rolling cabinet cases for steel drums (need construction types who are good with power tools and enjoy a challenge).

Looks like there'll be lots for everyone to do, so bring your work clothes and pitch in!

Notes on February camp at colts.org

There's info on February camp (no location, yet) at colts.org. Note that camp doesn't start until 10 p.m. for this camp with rehearsal at 11 p.m., and we've been asked not to arrive before 9:30.

Here's an exerpt from this morning's informational email.

As with every weekend, parents are encouraged and needed to give us a hand in the kitchen and on projects. Volunteers make the Colts successful, and it is the best way for you to learn about our program, meet the people and find out what it's all about.

We will prepare and serve 1000 meals this weekend, and 50,000 during the summer, all with parental help. Look over the summer schedule and plan to give us a hand as you can. Thank you! We need you!
