Great camp weekend

Camp went well.  We met, and worked with, new people.  Lots was accomplished.  The cooktruck got a new paint job inside.  Ovens work.  Plumbing was reconnected.  More uniforms fitted.  Plus much, much more.

It was great to visit with Jordan C. and Jared K.  Our best to Jared who is being deployed shortly.

Check out the updated 2012 Cook Calendar on the right.  Updates include changes in some competition sites (Van Buren to Bentonville, Home show is in Davenport) and we now have most of the locations for cornfield.

Welcome to April camp.  We're at Washington.  A new cooks calendar is posted on the right.

Weekend menu:
Friday snack - Nachos w/ beef, cheese , jalapenos
Saturday breakfast - French toast, bacon, oranges, cereal
Saturday lunch - Ham patty w/ bun, sweet potato, fruit, cookie
Saturday dinner - Sweet and sour chicken over rice, egg roll, fruit, cake
Saturday snack - Scalloped potatoes w/ ham, green beans, "must goes"
Sunday breakfast - Pancakes, sausage, apple, cereal
Sunday lunch - sack lunch w/ sandwich, fruit roll-up, cookie, chips

A cymbals alumnus makes some noise

Colts alumnus, Jack Borland, is featured in this DC news article. Jack and his friend Chelsea Levine (with help from his hard working Mom - Carole) have developed a way to give back to the activity. To support scholarships, they are selling specialized gloves that help cymbal players perform better.

Great job, Jack. Its been an honor to see you perform, watch the results of your teaching and witness the impact of your energy. Looking forward to seeing you on tour.

March camp

Last weekend's camp went well. Both the percussion and brass sections got outside, with the brass actually getting on the field.

Sunday's show had a surprise performance of Freebird. It immediately took me back to the unbelievable Freebird show on the Navy Pier in 2006. What a great memory of the day with Rod R., Lauren and Mike R., Penny D., John C., Tom T., Jody and David S. and Luba!

2012 volunteer calendar is here

After finally solving the technical problems (thanks to Jeff M. in the Colts office and DCI server techs), the 2012 volunteer calendar is finally available.

Colt Cadets rehearsal this Sunday

The next Cadets rehearsal is Sunday, March 18. Their first two rehearsals went well and they are making good progress on the 2012 show.

Colts had a great performance at prelims. They are working hard and have an amazing attitude! The smile on their faces was very cool as they received their triangles...always a moment that is never forgotten! Corps had an interesting twist of events last night with the rain. I'm told the no more got set up on the field for competition, had to pull off and seek shelter, (yes, everyone's fine) then re-set again...started to rain again....so...the pit was unplugged, synth's covered for safety and the corps stepped off into competition. COLTS had a TON of energy and a super show!!!! THAT'S HOW YOU DO IT COLTS!
