Today's News

Marlin is the new head cook. Welcome! Marie says "The 'other four' head cooks were glad to give up the job."

It's as hot as Hades, Marie said. That's as close as I could come to getting her to curse the weather. Bev says she never curses but the heat is giving her second thoughts about that.

The ice donated in Lawrence is the hit of this leg of tour. The corps is getting it in their water bottles every time they fill up. "The heat was terrible but the ice was a hit," Marie says. "Every break we give them ice if we can."

200 people turned out to see the Colts rehearse at KU stadium last night. Marie says the corps looked really sharp in the big stadium under the lights. The food truck is set up in Pittsburg today so that the cooks can see the corps. That's always a plus.

As always, check colts.org for the latest official word on tour news, housing sites, mail drops, or other corps information.

I can't imagine Marie cursing, but I do have a picture of her wearing an apron with a dirty word on it!

Just wanted say a BIG THANK YOU to Pat R. and Jill G. for their help with the clocks on the skirts. Hey, even Tom C. was cutting and sticking those silver "ticks" on to get them done. Ditto the BIG THANKS to the "spanglers" on the guard uniforms. The whole cook team and some of the staff jumped in at every possible break to sew those little sequin discs on all those hangy down things.
Sue and I really appreciated the extra help in getting the guard (and corps) uniforms completed and refitted. Thanks, Lauren R.

After reading this last blog about the UNBELEIVABLE cook team and Rod, David and company, it doesn't surprise me that things were taken care of and our kids were taken care of as well. I NEVER worry about Aaron on tour. I miss lending a hand this season, and next season I hope to refill my shoes as a volunteer cook. Aaron's grandmother is seriously ill and I can't leave her this summer.....hense no drum corps fix for me. THANK YOU to everyone who takes such good care of my most precious son, and all 134 of the other MOST precious kids in the world!
