Today's News

"No real dramas or other excitement to report to you"

The Colts had another really good show last night after a "really incredibly tough day with a heat index of 113." Crowd response was great – as it has been almost everywhere – but the scores were lukewarm (dropped .2)

Looks like there’s a slight break in the weather headed towards the Colts. Some are looking for a 20 degree drop in temperatures, but others are skeptical. Let’s hope the cooler weather in the Midwest is in Indy to greet them on Friday.

As always, check colts.org for the latest official word on tour news, housing sites, mail drops, or other corps information.

Leaving tour is the hardest thing I do all year!

After two weeks cooking with the Colts I am happy to be home (as is my husband and family), but I dearly miss the kids, staff, my fellow cooks and the amazing things that this corps does on and off the field.

You all should be very proud of our Colts...the heat has been horrendous these last few weeks!!! Some days, the cooks could hardly make it, and we were in the shade of the cooktruck most of the day (although, no matter how Bob parked it we seemed to get that nasty afternoon sun). But, at mealtime, the kids had smiles on their faces and so many thank you's for the food we served it makes it all worth it.

And, I need to mention the donations that we received. Keep them coming! It was like Christmas in some towns. You would look out the door and there would be bags/boxes of groceries. Tired cooks really appreciate the cookies/breads/fruits/etc. What a treat it is to serve these items fresh to the kids.

If any of you get a chance to volunteer for one day, one week or longer....take it. You will be rewarded ten fold for your efforts. These kids put their all into every moment of the day and deserve our all in return. As a mom of an 2004 ageout...I hope to be on many more tours. There is nothing that compares to life on the road.

So...I send my best to my fellow cooks/volunteers and to all the wonderful people involved with this activity. I believe that 2005 is the year the Colts will make waves in the drum corps community!!!

I will be watching quarter finals on the big screen in MN. I hope they hear me all the way to Foxboro, as I will be the one cheering the loudest and longest for the Colts. For those going in person to finals...have a fantastic time. I am so jealous. There is nothing like it on earth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
