Today's News

In addition to all the great things from the Saydel music boosters, we must thank Carole and Jack B. for the gravy for yesterday's breakfast. And the school in Wisconsin went above and beyond when they moved an oven into their multi-purpose room for the cooktruck staff to use after the ovens on the cooktruck were being fussy again. Cindy H. brought loaves of chocolate and chocolate chip bread.

The real excitement was that the corps got into Saydel two hours AHEAD of schedule. Dos said he didn't think he was really traveling with a drum corps. They're never early. Nobody really knew what to do with the extra two hours...

Pat R. says the kids are really psyched up, with lots of great attitudes about their shows and the progress they're making. We're all as proud as we can be of them. As we always are.

As always, check colts.org for the latest official word on tour news, housing sites, mail drops, or other corps information.

Whew...another whirlwind week as head cook for the best Drum Corps in the world. I got my 12 hours of sleep last night and am back at work...and wishing I was back on tour.

If any of you have the Season Pass on DCI...Colts made the Drive-in section. Some small video clips from Belmont...one even of the cooktruck...pretty cool.

I am always impressed with the kids and staff, but this year far exceeded any previous years. They are fun, thankful, energetic and the smiles abound at meal time.

I would like to also thank, from the bottom of my heart... Bill, Luba, Diane and Bev for all their work and support thru bad ovens, changed schedules and cold rainy weather. I also need to thank the new cooks that came on late in the week...Susan, Pat, Carole and Donna..and the drop-in help of Tom T, Alicia R. and Charlotte W. And as always our Mary - for her time and talents and loving support of the kids (do you know she has never seen this blog - but, by summers end we will get her up to speed)!

The 2006 Colts are in good hands for uniforms with the wonderful skills of Lauren and Sue...I am not sure when they actually slept during the week...but, they got all the uniforms re-fitted, the colorguard skirts hemmed and foot straps put on all uniforms.

Life on the road is not easy...but with the help of many...it is worth every minute! I miss everyone already...

If you have a chance to visit the cooktruck somewhere on tour...please do so...we love seeing and meeting parents, family and friends of the Colts! An extra pair of hands in the dishwater is also really nice if you get a chance....

So..I will be back on the road in less than three weeks...will new vim and vigor..until then...remember to write your Colt so they get at least one letter at every mail stop! You can't comprehend how much it means to each and everyone of them.

FIELD LINING! AHHHHHHHHHH! Get it out of here! My eyes! If I never line another field again, it will be too soon :)
