Hello to all from very soggy Minnesota.

It has stopped raining....yeh!

Spent the last two nights watching rain - can't tell you where it rained more...Dubuque or Stillwater...but it probably was a tossup!!!! But, finally last night we got the see our Colts do a standstill performance at the Stillwater show.

They did themselves proud....what a sight they were on the field. Gleaming white shoes, pants and red/black jackets under the lights with sheets of water falling on them....The cymbals gleamed and really put on a show...the soloists were wonderful and the pit got to shine, as they were the only ones moving. And our fantastic colorguard was their cheering them on.

The stands were full of die hard drum corps fans...who really appreciated all the corps did to push thru the rain and still play beautiful music.

The Madison Scouts equipment truck never made it to the site(broke down on 494) and the colts lent them their pit equipment and Phantom lent them their horns and drums....that was a site to see... Our Troy and Adam on the gator driving the pit equipment on the trailer and the Madison Scouts pushing the boards across the field to use and play.

We went back to visit Adam after the show....he and the pit had their hands full with very appreciative help from the Scouts and Phantom to put all the equipment away in the Colts truck (in the still pouring rain). So it was a quick goodbye until I hook up with them again in Orlando (does it rain there?)

I hope parents read this and know how proud they should be of their children. These kids deserve support and love from all of us for bringing so much joy and great music to adoring fans. There are so many stories we all could tell....from the disspointment of not playing at the home show on Monday (there was no way of consoling the Colts that night...they were heartbroken and many tears were shed) to the euphoria of just being able to stand still and play in the rain to a crowd of appreciative Minnesotan's and eating soggy must go from the cook truck. No better way to view Drum Corps!

Have a great day to all...may it be dry and sunny where you are....I am at work ready to start another day...my only regret is that it is not on the cooktruck making breakfast for the Colts and their great staff..but I will be back with them in Orlando...until then...send letters to your kids and bring vegetables, fruit or cookies when you can come and visit the cooktruck.

As a parent of a rookie snare, Adam, I agree with Jody that we parents should all be proud of the Colts and how they act and perform rain or shine. I know my wife and I are. These kids are an inspiration. This morning I was listening to a cd of the Colts June 25th performance in Normal, IL that we downloaded from the DCI web site. Old Man River in particular gets to me everytime I hear it. As I was listening to the cd driving to work it brought tears to my eyes appreciating the hard work, dedication, and quality of musicianship that practically reaches out and grabs you when you listen. It's a bit difficult to see where you are going through the tears, so maybe I'd better not listen to the cd while driving, but they are tears of joy at the outstanding efforts combined by the Colts corps. Way to go Colts!!
